Seminar of Restoration of Marquetry, Carving, Lacquering, Gilding

The restoration of a piece of antique furniture, besides cleaning and polishing, is based also on the restoration and restructuring of parts deteriorated by various causes, so that the wooden work recovers its functionality and its original beauty.
If some decorated parts are missing, they are reassembled according to the original design but remaining distinct from the original fragment. The restoration work depends on the decoration techniques which are marquetry, carving, lacquering, gilding.

SYLLABUS
The knowledge of wood and its essences as well as the Technique of Woodwork are necessary for Marquetry and Carving.
Painting technique and the basic knowledge of drawing and relief are important for Gilding and Lackering.

GUIDED VISITS
During the seminar, two guided visits are programmed: one to Urbino, the other one to Florence, as well as to restoration laboratory.
