The
Center for International Studies "Baldassarre
Castiglione" is an institute of specialization
for foreigners. It was founded in Arezzo in 1987
and it promotes educational and formative courses
in the Made in Italy artistic-artisan products and
food industry. The Institute, which participates
in the UNESCO programs, is sponsored by the Presidency
of the Ministry Council, the Department of Tourism,
the Italian National Board of Tourism (ENIT), the
Tuscan Archeological Superintendence, the Chamber
of Commerce of Arezzo, the Coinfartigianato, the
National Institute for International Trade ( ICE
), the Ministry of Productive Activities. The activities
carried out by the institute are also included in
the Annual Report of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Some of the institutes' sites include: 19th century
villas and historic farmhouses that have a pool
and are surrounded by parks. These gorgeous sites
are found in the Valdichiana area, one of the most
beautiful of the Tuscan valleys and in other magnificent
places such as the Casentino and Valtiberina areas.
The participants live and study in the midst of
nature, art and history. In these surroundings,
young students and adults guided by professors from
Universities, Art Institutes and prestigious Fine
Arts Academies, particularly of the Academy of Brera
can delve into the world of Etruscan Archeology,
Art History and in particular, the Minor Guilds
linked to interior design. The institute's activities
avail themselves of the collaboration of artisans
and industrial laboratories, which have supported
and worked with the school since its foundation.
The Institute has four basic programs, which can
be adapted to specific requests. The "Student"
Program is offered to University and Art Academy
students. The other three programs, Continuing Education
Program, Art&Art Program and "From the
Land to the Table" Program, are geared towards
adults who would like to enhance their knowledge
in specific fields of Italian culture related to
the Minor Guilds and to the DOC Food Industry. In
particular, the didactic structure, Master classes
and Continuing Education courses allow students
to gain a better understanding of Italian products
in their entirety and it is for this reason that
these courses and seminars are geared towards Architects,
Designers and Interior Designers.
The Art&Art Program and "From the Land
to the Table" Program represent a new way to
deepen our understanding of the value of Italian
artistic-artisan products and food industry for
the buyers of Made in Italy. The "Student"
Program, Continuing Education Program, Art&Art
Program and "From the Land to the Table"
Program have a well-defined identity, both for their
content and for the people they are geared towards.
However, there is one element that they have in
common which is a "full immersion" in
the Italian culture through a highly innovative
didactic method.
