SEMINAR
OF FURNITURE, INTERIOR DESIGN AND ANTIQUES (II):
APPLIED ARTS
2 weeks - 82 hours
If you want to improve or complete your knowledge
of Interior Design and Antiques, you must discover
the fascinating world of the Minor, or Applied,
Arts. Ceramics, wrought iron, inlay and weaving
are the artistic pursuits students learn about in
this course.
SYLLABUS
A study of the History of the Furniture and
Antiques concerning style and time, precedes the
actual restoration. A Graphic and Metric Relief
of the whole piece of furniture is then carried
out, in order to point out where to operate and
restore the missing parts. Finally, the Cleaning
and Polishing, and, if necessary, the Paint Decoration
or the Lackering are executed.
GUIDED VISITS
During the Seminar there will be two guided
visits: one to Florence (laboratories of restoration
and antique shops); the other one in the Province
of Arezzo to laboratories of restoration but also
to factories where furniture is made in 19th-century
style.
